We welcome all enquiries about doing business in Samoa.
Samoa i Sisifo
Samoa in the West
There are two Samoas, separated by their colonial history. There is Samoa I Sisifo (Samoa in the West) and Samoa I Sasa’e (Samoa in the East).
Today, these two groups are just known as Samoa (an independent Commonwealth nation) and American Samoa (a U.S. territory).
The Melesete Enterprise Limited primarily does business in Samoa.
As the crow flies, Samoa is about 4:40 hours direct flight from Brisbane, Australia; and 3:45 hours direct flight from Auckland, New Zealand.
Apia
Apia is the capital of Samoa and is the only city in the whole island group.
It is on Samoa’s second-largest island, Upolu, and is immediately recognisable to its far-flung sons and daughters around the globe by its Roman Catholic Cathedral in the centre of town, its Town Clock Tower (initially erected as a memorial by a father for his son who died of influenza and is now a war memorial for Samoans who fought in World War I and in the Australian and New Zealand forces) and various government buildings.
Apia is home to the UNESCO Office for the Pacific States.
Fale
A Samoan house.
To borrow from “The Samoan Fale“, a report published by UNESCO:
Samoa is the last of the Polynesian countries to make extensive use, even today, of its own traditional architecture in the construction of houses.
Nowhere in the Pacific is a more felicitous traditional dwelling to be found.
Pleasing to the eye, a standing tribute to its builders, open to the cooling sea breeze, highly resistant to cyclones, able to accommodate large numbers of people for formal meetings, to eat, relax, sleep … the fale does indeed seem to be without peer in combining so many positive features.
